Only This Moment

With time and space and physical limitations, we have only this moment of embrace; another may not come for months, years, maybe ever.

We may never again feel the warmth and presence of the other, or the touch of skin, one’s hand or lips against a cheek.

I may never again hold you against my heart and look into the starburst of color of your eyes or the way your smile creases your nose. You may be old when I see you again. I will be.

You are a feast for me in this moment. I hold you knowing we have no guarantee of tomorrow. Our passion for this moment is birthed from discovering love, and its great loss.
