Loneliness Inside the Embrace

I get lazy and despondent and feel especially alone within a short span of time. This loneliness baffles my husband. He can’t imagine how one who lives in the intimate company of many people can so easily feel outside their embrace.

I tell myself that loneliness is a universal truth that we all suffer to differing degrees, at different times. I don’t know how true this is, but I think we feel alone, just as we feel at home, in different aspects of our life, in spectrums or angles.

We may closely connect with another regarding her children, while being quite alone in our own writing or marriage. We may bend our heads close together and even pray together, addressing the needs of the one who is seeking answers, and still remain unknown.
